As the seasons change and we welcome spring, it is time to celebrate Earth Month. The month of April, centered around Earth Day on April 22nd, is a reminder of our environmental impact and ways we can help make a positive difference for our planet. In celebration of Earth Month, Open Farm has partnered with One Tree Planted, a non-profit 501(c)3 environmental charity to help add a little more green to our planet.
If this sounds like something you want to help out with, you’re in luck! For every Open Farm product purchased in the month of April and May, Open Farm will plant a tree, up to 60,00 trees. That’s right - you can help make a difference and fight global warming with every Open Farm purchase you make for your pet.
Planting trees for climate change
Our planet is heating up due to accumulating greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, methane, and other gaseous wastes generated by human activity are preventing heat from the Earth from escaping into space. The trapped heat poses a great risk, causing extreme weather conditions, affecting food security, melting the ice caps, and disrupting the delicate balance of ecosystems all over the world.
The simplest way to get rid of that excess carbon dioxide is by planting trees. On average, a full-grown tree can sequester as much as 48 lbs of carbon dioxide every year. Multiply that by how many trees it takes to make a forest, and you’ve got yourself one pretty good carbon sink. Trees help clean the air we breathe by releasing oxygen. They also cool air as they lose moisture, helping to slow the rate of global warming. Trees also provide shelter and food for all sorts of wildlife.
How you can help plant trees
Open Farm’s partnership with One Tree Planted empowers fur parents to fight global warming one bag of pet food at a time. Purchasing any Open Farm product online or in-store from April to May allows you to plant trees this Earth Day. One product = one tree.
With your help, we can reach our goal of reforesting three areas with a total of 60,000 trees. Open Farm will be planting trees in Hanceville Fire Restoration, British Columbia , Entiat Ranger District in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Washington, and Francis Marion-Sumter National Forest in South Carolina.
Do Some Good with Open Farm

This Earth Month, we invite pet owners to learn about our current initiatives, and help us make the world a better place.
