Open Farm was built with the mission to Do Some Good for animals and our planet. We exist to help pets live their healthiest, happiest lives by delivering exceptional nutrition made from the world’s best responsibly sourced ingredients. When it comes to Transparency, we take things very seriously. We believe there is no room for doubt in a pets’ bowl. That is why, for every Open Farm product, pet parents can:
- Trace each ingredient to its geographic origin
- View the safety test results for each lot
- Find information about our 3rd party certifications
- Understand the carbon emissions for each of our products
Since 2017, we have been sharing the geographic origin for 100% of our ingredients through our Transparency Tool on each product page on our website. This tool provides traceability right down to the state or province level in North America (or in some cases to a few states or provinces if an ingredient is sourced from more than one location) or to the country of origin for ingredients that were sourced internationally. If a pet parent is learning about our product at their local pet store, they can also scan the QR code found on each product to find the information above.
Providing this level of traceability on 100% of our ingredients takes a lot of work, but it’s more than worth it. We know pet parents value knowing where ingredients were raised and grown, and we want to give them the comfort of having that information at their fingertips.
While transparency underpins everything we do, there is some proprietary information we don’t publish. Rest assured we know these details, but to make sure we can continue effectively operating our business and creating great products for pets, we need to maintain confidentiality over certain details of our supply chain and recipes. The information you won’t find on our website includes our exact recipe formulations (including exact ingredient percentages), ingredient supplier names, and specific farm names and locations.
